Warning signs

Signs an account was taken over.

  • You get sign-in alerts or codes you didn’t ask for
  • Your password suddenly stops working
  • Friends get messages you didn’t send
  • Settings, apps or email rules changed without you

  • From a device you trust, change your Apple Account password, and the password for any account that uses the same one
  • Turn on two-factor authentication
  • Review the devices signed in to your account, and remove any you don’t recognize

Scams

Scam pop-ups and fake support calls.

A pop-up or a caller says your device is infected and asks you to pay, install something or give remote access. Don’t. Close the page or hang up. If you already gave access or paid, change your passwords from a trusted device, call your bank, and bring the device in.

Should I pay a support caller or a pop-up?

No. Don’t pay, don’t install anything they ask for, and don’t give them remote access. Hang up or close the page, then bring your device in.

Can you check my Mac for malware?

Where the two stores are Not to scale. The North MoPac store sits just west of MoPac, north of downtown, just north of RR 2222. Northbound and southbound MoPac traffic can take the RR 2222 exit to reach the store. There is a turn right after you exit, and the store has two entrances. Missed the turn? Loop around and come back: go down the MoPac frontage road past the store, around by Balcones Dr and back up to the entrances. The Downtown store is on West 2nd Street, just north of Lady Bird Lake, between MoPac and I-35.
