Service

MacBook battery replacement in Austin.

Battery draining fast, swelling, or showing Service Recommended? Our Apple Certified Technicians replace MacBook batteries with genuine Apple parts.

Signs it’s time

When to bring it in.

  • It drains much faster than it used to
  • Battery health shows Service Recommended (System Settings, Battery)
  • The case is bulging or the trackpad is lifting. Stop using it, don’t charge it, and bring it in soon

Batteries wear with use, and heat is hard on them. Keep your MacBook out of hot cars.

Coverage

Is it covered?

Some batteries are covered by the Apple Limited Warranty or AppleCare. We check your coverage when you come in, or check it yourself at checkcoverage.apple.com.

Stuck at 80%?

Why your battery stops at 80%.

Often it isn’t a fault. Apple says Optimized Battery Charging “can delay charging past 80% in certain situations”, such as when your Mac expects to stay plugged in for a long time.

If the battery menu shows Charging On Hold, choose Charge to Full Now when you need a full charge. On a Mac with Apple silicon and macOS Tahoe 26.4 or later, a Charge Limit between 80% and 100% can also be set in Battery settings.

FAQ

Questions we hear a lot

More answers on our FAQ page.

Why does my MacBook stop charging at 80%?

Usually that is Optimized Battery Charging or a Charge Limit, not a fault. If the battery menu shows Charging On Hold, choose Charge to Full Now when you need a full charge. Details are on Apple Support.

Can you replace a swollen battery?

Yes. A swollen battery is a safety issue, so stop using and charging the device and bring it in soon. We test it with Apple diagnostics and replace it with a genuine Apple battery if it needs it.

Will I lose my data during a repair?

Back up first, if your device still works. A current backup is the best way to protect your files during any repair. See our backup guide.
