Repair

Is my repair covered?

Only Apple and Apple Authorized Service Providers can perform repairs covered by the Apple Limited Warranty and AppleCare. We are an Apple Authorized Service Provider. Check your coverage at checkcoverage.apple.com, and we confirm it when you come in.

How long will my repair take?

It depends on the repair. We tell you when we give you the estimate. Quick fixes happen while you wait; bigger jobs stay on the bench.

Is there a charge for diagnostics on out-of-warranty devices?

For out-of-warranty devices, the quick check with Apple diagnostics is free. If an out-of-warranty device needs a deeper diagnostic, where we open the device, there is a $79.99 diagnostic deposit. It counts toward a new Mac or iPad bought within 30 days of the diagnostic. The deposit applies to out-of-warranty devices only.

Do you repair Apple Watch and Apple TV?

Yes. We repair Mac computers, iPhone, Apple Watch and Apple TV. iPad repairs go to Apple’s repair depot.

Do you repair iPad in the store?

No. In-store iPad repair is not offered. iPad repairs go to Apple’s repair depot, and the price varies by model. See Apple’s iPad repair options and pricing.

Will I lose my data during a repair?

Back up first, if your device still works. A current backup is the best way to protect your files during any repair. See our backup guide.

Do I need to turn off Find My?

We tell you at check-in if your repair needs it, and walk you through it. Know your Apple Account password so you can do it on the spot.

What should I bring?

Your device, its charger and cable if it has a power problem, your passcode and Apple Account password, and your proof of purchase if you have it.

Buying

Do you sell iPad?

Yes. We sell Mac computers, iPad and accessories, genuine and new from Apple.

Do you sell iPhone?

No. We sell Mac computers, iPad and accessories. We don’t sell iPhone, but we repair it, and we’ll set up your new iPhone and move your data to it.

Can you set up my new Mac and move my files?

Yes. We do setup and data transfer for your new Mac, iPad or iPhone, and we help people move from a PC to a Mac computer. Back up your current computer first so we can move your files.

Can my business buy through you?

Yes. Our North Central MoPac store focuses on business purchasing. We can link new devices to your company’s Apple Business account, so they enroll in device management automatically.

About us

Are you Apple?

No. Austin MacWorks is independently owned and operated. We are an Apple Authorized Premier Reseller and an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

How long have you been in Austin?

Austin MacWorks was founded in 2008.

Device care

Is heat bad for my devices?

Heat is hard on batteries. Keep devices out of hot cars. Apple says iPhone and iPad work best at 32° to 95° F, and MacBook at 50° to 95° F.

Why does my MacBook stop charging at 80%?

Usually that is Optimized Battery Charging or a Charge Limit, not a fault. If the battery menu shows Charging On Hold, choose Charge to Full Now when you need a full charge. Details are on Apple Support.

Is iCloud a backup?

iCloud Backup can back up iPhone and iPad. iCloud Drive keeps files in sync, so a file deleted on one device is deleted everywhere. For a Mac, use Time Machine or another backup too.
